SECURITY GUARDS
One of the simplest ways to protect your home, business, assets and family is with the help of a mobile security unit or a stationed security guard / officer. Officers have the additional advantage of being able to think on their feet in all sorts of instances and won’t suffer from untimely breakdowns or power shortages. They are also trained to look for unusual signs or for anything out of the ordinary. Moreover, they have a wider reach than cameras or motion-activated systems – they can search properties, examine things up close, and move freely around objects and rooms, just as you would yourself if you were examining the property or location. There are two main varieties of security guards available for hire on a regular or event-determined basis. The most popular type of officer for large businesses or homes is a mobile security guard who can conduct periodic surveillance of the perimeter of the building both on foot and by car. For large buildings with a foyer or fenced in properties, you may only require the other type of security guard – the fixed or static officer seated at a desk or posted at a door.
There are a number of companies in the UK that offer these sorts of services and more. Make sure that you interview not only the company owners and supervisors but get the opportunity to meet the security guards themselves – you want to be confident that they are up to the task. Also check that the company is Security Industry Association (SIA) Certified and that the staff have all undertaken security training.
